OUR NURSES
Our General Practice Nurses are an essential part of the surgery team. They are all Division 1 Nurses have all undergone extensive training in General Practice nursing after working in hospital settings. They assess new patients, provide health advice and also help with chronic disease management, the care of shared antenatal patients and assist with GP Management and Team Care Plans.
The following are some of the services they routinely provide:
- Dressings
- Blood Pressure checks
- Ear syringing

- Adult & child Vaccinations
- Smoking cessation advice
- Health checks
|
In addition, our nurses assist with triage, data management, diagnostic services, networking with other providers, planning & managing patient care and patient advocacy. They conduct preventative & screening procedures; assist with patient education and community health promotion activities; co-ordinate patient recall and outreach programs.
Julie – Head Nurse
Julie was trained in the Queen Alexander Hospital, Portsmouth in the UK, under the Project 2000 program. She moved to Australia in 1992 and since then she has married and has 3 sons. On arrival into Australia, Julie commenced work at St. John of God Hospital in Subiaco and later moved to Murdoch, increasing her experience in the following areas: cardiovascular, orthopaedics, endoscopy and day procedures. She moved into General Practice in 2000 and has to date, 16 years of experience of practice nursing, to add to her expertise.
Her special interests include teaching children with special needs and she is able to speak Makaton, a language programme designed to provide a means of communication to individuals who cannot communicate efficiently by speaking.
Rachael - Practice Manager
Rachael joined South Street Medical Centre in 2011 starting at the front desk. She took on the role of Practice manager in 2017. She is a mother of two children and thoroughly enjoys working with the team at South Street Medical Centre.
Rachael is an integral part of the Medical Centre team and in her wide role she is particularly committed to achieving the best possible health care practices within the surgery and oversees a team of dedicated administration staff. Rachael and her staff are responsible for all the administration work that is generated by the practice including health service claims, insurances and claims for patients, staff employment and medical data collection for immunisations on behalf of patients.
Administrative Staff
Our administration staff members are the reason our practice runs so well! They have all completed various training courses and have participated in a First Aid course. All staff abide by the AMA Code of Ethics and the Privacy Act.
