Retirement Announcement

 

After many years of dedicated service, Dr De Galvez will be retiring at the end of August 2026.
 

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr De Galvez for the exceptional care, compassion and commitment she has shown to her patients and our practice over the years.

She will be greatly missed by our team and her patients.

 

We understand that patients may have questions about their ongoing care.

If required, our friendly reception team will be happy to assist with arranging an appointment with one of our other experienced doctors at the practice to ensure continuity of care.

 

We wish Dr De Galvez all the very best for her retirement and hope this next chapter brings her much happiness, good health and time to enjoy the things she loves.

Dr Marcela de Galvez has been part of South Street Medical Centre since 2000.

 

She graduated from University of El Salvador in 1974, upgraded her Medical Qualifications in Australia in 1996 and completed her Fellowship of General Practice in 2001.

 

Special interests:
Dr de Galvez is a very experienced GP with special interests in preventive health care and health promotion with active patient involvement. She enjoys helping patients with chronic disease management and provides GP Management, Team Care Plans and Mental Health Care Plans. Her interests include family medicine, women’s health, acupuncture, minor procedures and standard vaccinations. She also provides shared antenatal care and family planning including Implanon insertion/removal and mirena insertion /removals.

Registrar Doctors

 

Reflecting its leading role in general medical practice in Western Australia, South Street Medical Centre is also a training practice. This means that fully-qualified doctors, who have completed their 4 years of training in hospital medicine, spend up to eighteen months working in the practice to develop their skills.

 

We usually have at least one GP Registrar and you may be offered an appointment with him/her at the surgery.
